ATON’s Kids Fishing Derby a Success!

Saturday, June 4th was the morning for the Rogue Bass Youth Derby co-sponsored by the Somerset County Park Commission. This is the eighth year ATON has participated in this fun day at Metlers Pond in Colonial Park. The day started with a representative of the NJ Fish hatchery giving everyone a lesson in the fish that were to be stocked into the lake and answered the numerous questions from the children.

The 10:00 AM horn blew and the fishing started. Fish were hitting immediately and about 150 eager young participants had their reels screaming and rods bent. Too many fish to count were landed; with the bulk being catfish, bluegills, and bass.

ATON wishes to thank the NJ
Rogue Bass Masters, Dina Trunzo of the Parks Commission, and all participants. For further Park Commission events, visit them at: www.park.co.somerset.nj.us.
