The founders of ATON Computing, Walter C. Hansen and Richard T. Charles, have over fifty years combined experience serving the public sector. Their experience is comprised primarily of hands-on, design and implementation of computer systems specifically configured to meet the needs of the governmental organization. During these projects, they had actual operational responsibility. They were not just "idea guys" providing esoteric theories-they made things happen.
Walt has been serving and managing governmental projects since the inception of ATON. Prior to ATON, he worked as a manager with an international consulting firm in systems design, efficiency programs, and management information systems. In addition to his systems experience, Walt brings the skills necessary to develop custom programming and software integration when needed for the public sector client.
Before establishment of ATON, Ritch worked as an auditor and management consultant for a "Big Five" (then a "Big Eight") accounting firm. He was a senior manager on the public sector team and director of small business computer advisory services. He performed these services for municipalities, counties, school boards, and authorities.

All ATON staff members have experience serving the public sector. In addition to their industry knowledge, their technical credentials are extensive and include: Microsoft Certified System Engineer, Certified Novell Administrator, Citrix Certification, Microsoft Certified Professional, A+ Core Services, CCNA, SANS Certified Hacker and many hardware/software product certifications.

- Significant time and money can be saved by purchasing hardware and software through the State contract. ATON’s knowledge of the Local Public Contracts Law can be beneficial to our clients.
- There are a large number of software packages available specifically designed for government including recreation, building, public works, etc. ATON’s knowledge of these products can minimize the need for research and can result in a cost savings for our clients.
- There are a limited number of accounting systems available that meet NJ accounting requirements. ATON has many years experience with these programs. Since we do not sell any hardware or software, we can provide an unbiased recommendation as to which package is best for our client, resulting in a significant reduction in the time required to select a new financial package.
- GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is becoming the "hot button" of the 21st century within the government sector. ATON has experience in this area and we can help your organization understand the costs and benefits of implementing this new technology.
